Our Favorite AG Outfits

Everyone seems to be going crazy over the new AG items, so we decided to do something a little different and talk about all of our favorite outfits from AG. Here goes!

Love this outfit! Aqua is Kirsten's favorite color, but it would look good on either of us!

Skinny jeans usually aren't our thing; however we love the fun colorful aspect of this outfit.

We love the shirt and sandals in this outfit! The vest seems very versatile, also.

Casual but pretty, and the boos could be used with so many outfits!

Christina played softball for 9 years, so of course this is a favorite!!

This is more fall-like, but we still love it.

Pick Up Sticks ~ Craft

Boy is it hot here! After raining all week, the weather has made a complete turnaround and is now 90 degrees! Anyway, a few years ago our good friends Gwen and Megan showed us this super easy craft that is perfect for playing on the sidewalk or in the house!

You will need 30 toothpicks and 5 different colored markers. We used purple, red, blue, green, and yellow.

Color one toothpick purple.

Color the ends of the rest of the toothpicks. 7 red, 7 blue, 7 yellow, and 8 green.

To play, hold all of the sticks upright in the middle of the playing area.

Let them scatter.

The first player tries to pick up a stick without making any other sticks move. If another stick moves, it is the next player's turn. However, if they are successful, the first player continues to pick up sticks until they move another by accident.

Each player keeps their sticks until there are no sticks left.

If a player gets the purple stick, they may use it to move other sticks. Only this stick may be used in this way.

Once all of the sticks have been used, the players count up their points. Purple: 25  Red: 10  Blue: 5  Green: 2  Yellow: 1

Players may choose to continue the game by once again scattering the sticks.

When finished, use a clear elastic to keep your sticks together.

Summer Photoshoot

We don't know about the rest of you, but we sure are excited for summer!! Christina finally got a break this afternoon, so we did a short photoshoot!

The lighting was really nice, we didn't edit any of these photos!  We hope to be posting more soon, but Christina still has rehearsals every day, so no promises!

FYI: Busy Week Ahead

Hello, Faithful Followers! (17, woohoo!!) First, we want to thank you all for following us, it's so exciting! The point of this post is to inform you that Christina has musical rehearsals every day this upcoming week, AND she just got three matching dress orders for Daisy Chains, so she is going to be extremely busy! Chevron at Daisy Chains!

I know I recently made a post about Daisy Chains, but I've just been sewing so much that I have a ton of new items! I bought a bunch of chevron fabric, so I made a bunch of dresses! Here are some pictures:

Blog Buttons

Hi all! We noticed that a lot of you have buttons, so we decided to look into making one of our own! However, we discovered that it is very tough to find good, simple instructions for making one, until we stumbled on a super easy HTML code creator! We decided to share it with you in case you too are having trouble.
1. We used Photoshop to write on our photo, and then resize it. Resize your photo to anywhere between 125 and 250, ours is a little big. :)
2. Upload it to a server. We used Photobucket. On Photobucket, once our photo was uploaded, there was a little side thing that had the image link and other info.
3. Use this generator to make your HTML code.
4. Go to Blogger, then to Layout, and then click on "Add A Gadget". Scroll down that list until you get to HTML/Java Script and click on that. In the space provided, paste your code.

Hope this works for you! We'd love to swap buttons with you, and we tried to add more than the few we have now, but we couldn't grab their buttons.

GOTY 2014, Our Idea

It seems that Girl of The Year 2014 is all the buzz in the AG blogging world, so we decided to voice our thoughts on her. :)

Hair: Straight brown hair with bangs (they don't do many of these dolls any more)
Eyes: Brown
Skin: Medium
Name: Charlotte "Lottie" Olivia Jennison
Character: Lottie would be a homeschooled girl who lives on the outskirts of a small town with her siblings, parents, dog, and chickens (AG chickens would be cute!). She would play softball, love dolls, and be in a 4H sewing club. Lottie would be confident, and stand up for the new girl on her softball team when someone makes fun of her. She wins Grand Champion in the 4H Style Show with the matching outfit that she makes for her doll and herself. Lottie is sporty but girly, confident and positive, always laughing and having fun!

Well, those are our thoughts, what do you think? (Lottie is actually based on Christina hehe)

New Items at Daisy Chains!

Christina here! I've been working hard this past week and have made several new items for Daisy Chains! Three bright sundresses and three 4th of July items!  

The dresses are each $12 and include a matching bracelet, the shirt is $8, the hat is $12, and the shoes are $15.

Make A Doll Book ~ Crafts

It's hot here where we live, and we think that there's nothing like relaxing in the shade with a good book! Whether we're beginning a new book, or perusing an old classic, us dollies love to read! However, it's tough to find books our size, so we came up with our own and decided to share it with you.

 Supplies:
Paper
Binder Clips
Ruler
Paper Cutter
Mod Podge (this is just what we use)
Paintbrush
Cardstock
Glue Stick

Stack several pieces of paper together (make sure it's not more than your paper cutter can handle).  Try to make the edges as even as possible. Place binder clips on three sides to keep the papers still.

On one of the long sides, mark 2 1/2 inches from the edge.

Mark 2 1/2 inches from the first mark and repeat across the length of the paper.

Use your paper cutter to make a straight cut at the mark. Once the first piece is cut, place a new binder clip at the third edge.

You should end up with four slips of paper.

Mark 3 1/4 inches from the edge on the long side of one of the strips. Make a second mark 3 1/4  inches from the first.

Cut at each of the marks. Whenever you cut a piece, put a new clip at the newly cut edge.

You should now have two big sets of paper and one small one.

After cutting each of the four slips in the same way, you should have 8 big sets and 4 small ones.

Take two or more of the same size set (depending on how thick you want your book to be. I used 2-3 sets) and line them up at the lower edge.

Place a clip at the end.

Remove the extra clips. You can remove all clips at this step to make sure that all of the edges match up.

Place a clip on one long edge, then place two more as pictured.

Using a paintbrush, spread Mod Podge on the edge. You can spread it thickly.

Place two more clips on the glue edge as shown.

After the glue has dried, remove all clips. Measure the glued edge. (Mine was 3/8 inch)

Cut a piece of cardstock 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches for a bigger book. For a smaller one, cut it 4 1/2 inches by 2 inches. Then make two marks about 3/8 inch apart in the middle of the piece.

Fold the cardstock at the two marks.

This creates the side of the book.

Spread Mod Podge in the crease. 

Place the set of papers inside the book cover, pressing the crease against the glued edge of the papers. (Sorry if this sounds confusing.)

Place two clips on the creased/glued edge of the cover to hold it still.

While the glue is drying, go online and find images of book covers. Save them, then print them out. Some will print right side up (the bottom three) and some will print sideways (the top two). The right side up ones will go on your larger books and the sideways ones will fit the smaller books. (This just so happened to work out for me!)

Cut out your book covers.

Glue them to the front of your books. You're finished! If you like (I didn't have time to do this) you can put quotes or the table of contents from the books in your miniature ones so that they have some writing in them.
